Kyle- The Protagonist - By: Christopher Taylor

So, round 3 update!

The script for the first chapter is halfway finished, and now I've been playing with illustrating the characters in different poses. The relationship between Kyle and Persephone I haven't decided on yet, tho I'm sure that with time it will come to me. Anyways, enjoy some more work on the story and some random sketchings!

Keep you updated!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Developing a New Story Part 2!! More Designs

So, more development in the story to come. Here are three of the characters from the face portraits together. They all will be shown in the beginning together. Some minor changes from the previous stages are shown here but now you can see how these three really stand next to each other. Also NAMES! From left to right we have, Gary, Clarie and Persephone and....For the girl you'll have to wait on some more development sketches!

Ahh, now we come to my weakness, landscape and BG development. I've gone and taken reference from various houses and landscapes hit by F4's and F3's. What does that mean? Its a vital part of this story to be. You'll also see here that some vehicals were concepted, and there's alot of important lingo for me here too.And here...this is the Main Character, Kyle with what is a F4 behind him...now do you get what I'm trying to do here?

This story is set to be a Manga-esk style Sci-fi Fantasy about this man's battle....againsts Mother Natures strongest force.

Look out everyone, because the script is IN DEVELOPMENT NOW!! Wish me luck on a interesting tale of Man vs. Nature!

Developing A new story! (One I've been waiting on)

This is the initial concept page. After discussing it with one of my friends, a good German writer and story teller, I created concepts for a small pair that will initiate the story. You can see that I have idea of the body types for both characters thought out, and now I’m playing with the look of the two. During concept of the story, I had told my friend that if I create a realistic story feel, I wanted a male lead, and with the cartoonish I wanted a female lead. So he had suggested a Male backup for the female role. UPON FURTHER THINKING OF THE STORY AND CONCEPT, I decided that Cartoonish was not the right path for the story’s world, and changed to a more realistic feel for the characters and world. I mentioned earlier that depending on the style of the world, the Main character would be either male or female, and that stayed true. The Main Character is now a male and the female is a secondary MC in the story with ties to him. Here I began working on how the faces would look by borrowing feature from other characters that I could imagine playing the same roles in my story. What comes from this is seeing what I like and don’t like, so that I can move onto rough-ing out what will become the first draft of the first appearing characters in the story. This is the first body shot of the Main Character. This was created in order to confirm my drawings with my ideas. Being able to see the figure in your head running, moving, and whatever else you imagine helps out so much. You can see that he has some similar elements to the first conepted girl from above. You can also see that I shortened the girls pony tails. I didn’t like the long lenght and thought shorter would suit her character more.

The first Face portraits without reference. This takes all the elements I liked about the previous designs and really shows me what I can and cannot do with the character. From here these faces will be used to reference for the final designs. Also, the character can be given names now. I’ve developed them to a point where I can put them into a scene and can see them react to it without influence from my own personal life.

You’ll also see that two more characters have appeared. Maybe all will have strong roles in the story to come.

There is also a small Height Comparison. Just to give me a idea of how each person stands next to each other, and also shows me when beginning a character that starts next to another, where their heads will begin. You’ll see all four have circles drawn where their heads are.

Finalized Character Head Sketches! Get used to this because this is the appearance of the four character in the story, and how most other characters style will be. Now that the face are final, I can begin thinking about how other people will look, the world, and most importantly, what kind of clothes will these characters have! Exactly what is shown here. These three now have their body types and clothing drawn out for the first chapter of the story! Of course I will draw them again when props have been decided, but for now I can take these characters and fully diverse them into the world within my head without any roadblocks!

This is my design process that takes from a week to maybe months depending on the characters and style. Take a look and let me know what you think.

King of Fighters XII Fan Art Entry Sketch ( TEAM PSYCHO SOLDIER!!) - By: Christopher Taylor
King of Fighters XII Fan Art Entry Lineart( TEAM PSYCHO SOLDIER!!) - By: Christopher Taylor

So after having a look at Kevin Cameron's Blog, and discovering that there is in fact a new King of Fighters Game coming out, AND discovering that they're having a fan art contest....I decided to join. This will be my entry. Colored version coming soon.

As for the interview which some of you have asked about, I didn't get the job...but, I did get great help on my CV/Resume which you can see under the blog has been updated, and hopefully a good business contact for the future. Its back to the drawing board for me...literally, as I'm here again thinking of what path to focus myself on.

Duke and Tamara's Short story comic I need to get back on the ball and finish coloring those pages so I can finish drawing out the rest of the story, and Riven I need to be at a stable set of mine to finish drawing and coloring those pages at well. I don't want to draw one of my favorite stories while questioning every ounce of my pencil work. Its not fair to the story.

Otherwise I hope to have more updates soon. Possibly something rent money changing for me!

Flli - Character Concept - By: Christopher Taylor
Zombies and Dragons (Sketching) - By: Christopher Taylor
Random Character Sketchings - By: Christopher Taylor
Style Adjust!- Working on the younger heroes(heroine ) of my stories - By: Christopher Taylor

Just though I'd post up some of my more recent sketches. Had a talk with my rival, James the author of ORANGE CROWS bout sketching, drawing, and making comics for fun. Sadly that that exact time I got to the chapter in Reinventing Comics that discusses over how artist will have to hit those many road blocks of just "this style isn't what I' looking for" and stuff like that.

It's a hard road out there guys. Find a friend or a so called "rival" and keep each other motivated! Keep drawing and keep that spark alive.

The gift that keeps on stealing....

Rant time...

OK, so with the coming of the lovely Orphan Law rearing its head to American creative persons out there, one thing has gone ahead and stood out to me more then usual and that is, the ability to refrain from stealing ones ideas for yourself. In other words, Plagiarism. Ever since I could remember I've been dealing with this a lot as I drew pictures all the time. It wasn't until later in 2000-2001 where one of the biggest cases of it showed up at my locker. In my Drivers Education class I had a friend. We'll call him Robbert. Robbert liked my original Manuscript for NEO|ARK when I still called it Glenn's World. Anyways, he liked it so much that he actually took the time to remember my style and characters, and redraw them over with slight alterations and new names. A week later a friend comes up to me with all the drawings he had, and told me "Its time to be more protective of your work." I still to this day have those drawings because first off, its one of the only "fan art" if you would call it that of my characters that someone decided to do without me somewhat involved, asking for it or trading. And two, because it shows me that people are bloodthirsty for something to call their own at times. Anyways, what brings this up is that Today I've been watching some of Adam Sessler's personal "BLOGS" or online video journals. Those close to me know that I haven't had the best relationship when it came to viewing him on television. I'm not sure EXACTLY what did it, but I know it has to do with something with a review over either a RPG, Sonic the Hedgehog or another game I like. Dunno. The point is, that as the internet become a part of my life more and I was able to READ those reviews and topics and see those special reports where he's away from the main cameras, and seriously talking about a given or set issue (I.E AOTS where he was on with Jack Thompson, Sessler's Soapbox, etc...) these little side steps in journalism for him gave me the perspective and incite not only on games, but on him and on the way I view things in life altogether. A game is just a game, If I like something then others opinions shouldn't influence that, etc etc...

Its mid-day. I come back home from Skating and talking with a group of interesting gay 50 year old Germans in the park. (Long story for another time) I turn on my PC and decide to actually USE MY FACEBOOK! and find the Sessler's Soapbox fan listing there. I become a fan because lets face it, I do enjoy hearing what that crazy man has to say, and to make matters worse or best, I left a message that I knew being on Facebook and not on the actual site, they/ he probably won't see but just makes me feel good for saying it. Here it is :

Christopher R. Taylor Sessler's Soapbox: I've been watching X-Play since it was broadcast on TV, and I hated you. However, that was blissful youth and the bad rating on a Sonic the Hedgehog game or some RPG, I don't really remember. Anyways, Years have past and I've heard many of your interviews with Game companies, critiques, and stuff like the Soapbox. I have to say, my view of you has completely change. Keep speaking your mind regardless of the fan boys out there. Your informative and I look forward to hearing some of your sides on topics out there for today's video gamers....or just yourself. Looking forward to more Soapbox! SKETCHFro!

So yea, I then go off to rest and play Persona 4 and when I come back to the PC to start working, I see my Facebook has a little jumping mark. I click and follow and low and behold I find this:

Christopher Marchant Pascarelli Sessler's Soapbox: I've been watching X-Play since it's TechTV days, I would watch this show and The Screen Savers on a daily basis, and the one thing I remember the most when I watched X-Play was how annoying you were on the show, but also how intelligent you are when it comes to gaming, your reviews and your indepth research when you reviewed games helped me steer clear of bad games, that and I enjoyed seeing you get tortured by Morgan every few episodes... but when it came to review time on games you and morgan hit the nail on the head. *I still feel sorry for you that you had to actually play Drake and the 99 dragons or whatever it's called* Anyways I have much higher respect towards you now because your reviews and opinions grew on me, also you've proven to me time and time again that you are in fact a gamer. I also respect you when you have the guts to defend a rating of a game or a topic at hand ex (your defense of giving NO MORE HEROES a 5 out of 5) Keep doing what you do best adam.

...look, I'm one that loves to rant. I'm one that likes that people can have things in common and stuff like that, however come on! Switch out a few elements here and there and you have almost the identical response that I wrote. Everyone has their views and more or less people will share the same opinion but this was just too close in time frame to rule out the questioning possibility that....Maybe you kinda wanted to jump on a bandwagon that wasn't there?

Anyways, the comments are there and if Adam Sessler even reads it or not I'm not sure. I just hope that it won't be thrown out of perspective because of the later comment there and because of the context. (again jumping onto a bandwagon of I hate you but I like you now kinda thing) But then its also makes me more wary or voicing my opinion.....online....or in my Kitchen. I'm not a real sought after person, I've never been and I'm sure that I'll never unravel the mystery of why my Girlfriend loves me so much or why my Mother is such a supportive and reliable figure in my life. Don't know, don't care, just glad that they are there and they do care. The point is that I think that people need to have their own opinions and learn how to express it without a simple copy, paste, edit.

It wouldn't pass in school, so why continue doing it?

That's it, that's my rant. I'll have actual illustrations and news about art and comics next time.

Fool a Fool's Day

Rough Page for Princess Lucinda - Drawn By: Christopher Taylor ( I didn't like this page becuase the spacing for text was very minimum, and the princess loves dioloague. Tho the last panel was my favorite and I ended up using varrious version of it all up till its final page)

Practice comic 10 ( Strip comic: Idea and original by: Maike Vierkant) Drawn by: Christopher Taylor

Yea...April 1st. Dispite what I can think of, and how ingenious it is....it'll never work....ever...
I've yet to actually wake up but I've already seen Deviantart's in full swing.

☃ This is their April Fool's Joke.

Yea...what appears harmless at such a big state is really seen smaller....so small that it looks like a poop coil.

Good one there...

Anyhoo, I've been working hard on projects. From my Last post as Ms. Lucinda pointed out. I have been working on pages to one of her side stories. It was a rough start at first but the actual pages are now in full swing, but I would still show off some of the rough drafts that I liked.

If you go to http://www.ombouwnederland.nl , you'll see that this site is now littered with mascots created by me. The Netherlands based game selling company has asked for me to do a couple of mascots for them, and they seem to be fitting in pretty well around the site. So if you have time, check it out!

Also I need to get back on the ball and finish more pages for my short story (and think of a name too) as well as Riven. I really want the first chapter to a point where I can start trying to get some people behind me to get it published.....maybe.

Otherwise, Its back to work....on comic pages...and a doable April 1st joke...
