CLIP STUDIO PAINT: My experience with it Part ONE

THE FIGHTER-BIANCA BELLFORD (NEO|ARK) Process By: Christopher Taylor
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ok, so... KAIGAI Manga Festa was a great convention. Durning the time I was there, I was approached by a representative from CLIP STUDIO PAINT, a Japan-wide used program that is 'perfect' for Manga Artist creating pages, and Illustrators. The program is specifically built for illustration and comic creation. As such, the man noticed my work and asked if I did anything digital...in which ALL color work, lettering and and things outside of pencils and inks are done on the computer... ERGO... I was offered a FREE Version of their product: In ENGLISH!

------------------   So now begins my venture with CSP. -------------------

(NOTE: I haven't made any changes to my Graphic Tablet settings. They were fit for Photoshop CS2, and the reason for this is to see how comfortably I can adjust from one program to the other)

Well... end results and feelings after a long progress.... I like it... alot actually! It's the first time I picked the PEN TOOL and I was NOT utterly scared of what came out of it. The color is nice, the sensitivity to my tablet works well. I just need to learn how to adjust to filters, mixing, blending and more like I did in Photoshop. Otherwise, there was little I needed to adjust to... (no hand scrolling move, and zooming was reversed on my Intuos 4 for some reason...)

In the end, I'm going to so more illustrations and even a short comic in order to really get a feel for this, and see if I'm going to make a big jump.

Overall, part one, I'm feeling this.
